Microsoft have recently highlighted the implications of planned changes to some online services which could have an impact on your system's ability to operate.

From the beginning of April, new security protocols mean that connections to SaaS services can no longer use a stored username and password to connect, as they have done in the past. In an environment where malicious attacks are rising all the time, Microsoft's fear is that stored credentials are an easy way for hackers to gain access to your system.

To mitigate these changes, we need to convert any connection between your systems and Microsoft services such as Dynamics 街霸5 Business Central SaaS, Dynamics 街霸5 CRM SaaS, Power BI, or SharePoint to use a new sign-in protocol called OAuth rather than a simple username and password. You will see the new type of login if you go to www.office.com and sign in with your Office 街霸5 credentials.

This new sign-in protocol will affect systems that are On-Premise (as well as on SaaS) if they connect to any Dynamics or Office 街霸5 elements that are cloud-based to store documents or update reports etc.

At Tecman we have been working hard to 'upgrade' your systems ready for this new standard. We have worked with our external ISV's such as Jet Reports and Continia, and our own Clever Dynamics team to understand what needs to happen.

For SaaS-based customers who have signed up to our Cloud Control Managed Service, we are using the new telemetry to comprehensively identify any affected links and to install updates as required. For systems that are not SaaS-based, it is much harder.

If you are an existing Tecman customer, please contact your account manager as soon as possible - the sooner we know of the need to make any changes, the sooner we will be able to confirm that it’s all done.

if you are an existing Dynamics 街霸5 Business Central/ 街霸5 user and are not getting the support you require from your partner, please get in touch to discuss how we can help.
